About Us

The OVAL group of businesses, activities and enterprises has grown over the last 6 years following the creation of Salterbeck Alliance for Community Enterprise (Salterbeck ACE) in 1995.

Salterbeck ACE is a Company Limited by Guarantee which is owned and run by and for local residents and has the following objectives:
•	To provide training, employment and volunteering opportunities for people living in Salterbeck, Workington and surrounding areas.
•	To preserve, protect, improve and enhance in any way for the benefit of the public, the amenities and employment opportunities in Salterbeck, Workington and surrounding areas.

The Oval Centre was completed in 1999 as the focus for all the planned changes.

This building provides meeting and function rooms of various sizes, for commercial and community use, houses a bar and café with full catering facilities, has broadband computer access and a fitness suite with a range of free weights, strength machines and cardiovascular equipment.

OVAL activities have now been extended to include grass sports pitches and a floodlit All Weather Pitch plus comprehensive changing facilities.

OVAL businesses now include Landscaping and Decorating teams and External Catering.

We have lots of new plans to move into other activities and businesses which will match our original objectives.
